7 Days hiking around Toubkal and Lake Ifni
Day 1: Marrakech – Imlil -Tacheddirt
We will pick you up from your accommodation in Marrakech to the village of Imlil. We meet the team of muleteers and we load the material on the backs of the mules, we start walking along the valley towards Tacheddirt, some 8kms beyond Imlil. Soon the trail begins to rise as we climb to the Tizi N’Tamatert pass (2279m). We then descend the pretty village of Ouaneskra and continue, for another half hour, to Tacheddirt (3000m), where we usually camp near the river.
Day 2: Tacheddirt – Azib Likemt
Crossing the valley, we begin a long and slow climb to the Tizi Likemt pass (3555m). The course is quite challenging as there is a considerable amount of scree on the ground. At the top, we enjoy our first good view of the Toubkal massif, before a long descent to the village of Azib Likemt, where we will camp for the night.
Day 3: Azib Likemt – Tizi – N’ouria Amsouzert
This long, but relatively easy, day takes us through a variety of contrasting landscapes. From Tizi n’Ououraine (3120m) we enjoy other views of the Toubkal massif , including the summit, the east face and the Dome Ifni (3876m). The trail leads to Amsouzert, where we spend the night – dormitories – Gite in a Berber village.
Day 4: Amsouzert – Lake Ifni
From Amsouzert, we explore Berber villages on our way to Lake Ifni. We expect to arrive before noon and spend the afternoon relaxing at the beach. We evening camp in this area.
Day 5: Ifni Lake – Toubkal Refuge
A day of Trek to the refuge of toubkal requires more energy. Finally we reach the Tizi n’Ouanoums pass (3664m), From there it is a long zigzag descent to Le refuge de Toubkal (3207m), a mountain refuge where we will spend the night (or outside the camp alternately).
Day 6: Refuge – Toubkal Summit – Refuge – Imlil
We leave early in the morning around 4:30 am, towards the summit where we enjoy a panoramic view of the Atlas and the plain of Marrakech beyond. Back we then descend fairly quickly to the villages of Sidi Chamharouch and Aremd, before following the Mizane River, along a well wooded path, to the start of the trail at Imlil.
Day 7: Return to Marrakech
After breakfast, we transfer you to your accommodation in Marrakech.
